Ambiel, Ana Claudia; UNOESTE; Guaberto, Luciana Machado; UNOESTE; Vanderlei, Talita Marques; UNOESTE; Machado Neto, Nelson Barbosa; UNOESTE.

Assessing Genetic Variation and Spread of Phalaris minor Resistant to ACCase Inhibiting Herbicides in Iran Planta Daninha
GHEREKHLOO,J.; ALCÁNTARA-DE LA CRUZ,R.; OSUNA,M.D.; SOHRABI,S.; PRADO,R..
ABSTRACT: Littleseed canarygrass (Phalaris minor) is the second most serious and problematic grass weed in wheat fields in Iran, and has developed resistance to ACCase inhibiting herbicides. Inter-simple sequence repeat (ISSR) analysis was used to assess genetic variation between and within ACCase inhibitor-resistant and susceptible P. minor populations in Iran and to determine the origin of resistance and its dispersal. Sixteen P. minor populations from different regions in Iran were analysed using seven primers. Genetic relationships generated using UPGMA analysis indicated the presence of more than one genotype among the herbicide resistant populations. The results indicated that the high genetic similarity and physical proximity among the resistant P....

Assessment of genetic diversity in the Russian olive (Elaeagnus angustifolia) based on ISSR genetic markers Rev. Ciênc. Agron.
Asadiar,Leila Sadat; Rahmani,Fatemeh; Siami,Abbas.
Elaeagnus is a Eurasian tree with 77 species worldwide. In this study, ISSR markers were used to establish the level of genetic relationships and polymorphism across nine genotypes of Elaeagnus angustifolia collected from 9 different regions of West Azarbaijan province. The ISSR analysis with 11 anchored primers also generated 116 scorable loci, of which 92 were polymorphic (79.3%). The estimated Jaccard similarity coefficient ranged from 0.44 to 0.76 for the ISSR markers. Cluster analysis was carried out, based on the Unweighted Pair Group Method with Arithmetic Averages (UPGMA) and the dendrogram drawn with the help of the NTSYSpc 2.02 software. The analysis revealed 5 main clusters for the ISSR data. According to our results, there is a relatively high...

Characterization of sour (Prunus cerasus L.) and sweet cherry (Prunus avium L.) varieties with five isozyme systems Rev. Bras. Frutic.
Corts,Remedios Morales; Rodrigues,Luciano Cordeiro; Marcide,Jesús Maria Ortíz; Sánches,Rodrigo Pérez.
Extracts from young leaves of nine sweet cherry (Prunus avium L.) and eight sour cherry (Prunus cerasus L.) varieties, located in the germplasm collection of the 'Direção Regional de Agricultura da Beira Interior' (Fundão, Portugal), were analysed for five isozyme systems in order to characterise these varieties and detect problems of synonymies and homonymies that frequently present. The sweet and sour cherry varieties analyzed showed low isoenzymatic polymorphism, being PGM and PGI the systems with the highest discrimination power. These systems presented seven and five different zymogrames, respectively. IDH showed four patterns. SKDH and 6-PGD grouped the varieties only into two patterns. The evident and discriminant restrictions of this type of...

Comparative genetic diversity and genetic structure of three chinese silkworm species Bombyx mori L. (Lepidoptera: Bombycidae), Antheraea pernyi Guérin-Meneville and Samia cynthia ricini donovan (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae) Neotropical Entomology
Liu,Yan-Qun; Qin,Li; li,Yu-Ping; Wang,Huan; Xia,Run-Xi; Qi,Yong-Hong; li,Xi-Sheng; Lu,Cheng; Xiang,Zhong-Huai.
The genetic diversity and genetic structure of three Chinese silkworm species Bombyx mori L., Antheraea pernyi Guérin-Meneville and Samia cynthia ricini Donovan were comparatively assessed based on RAPD markers. At the species level, A. pernyi and B. mori showed high levels of genetic diversity, whereas S. cynthia ricini showed low level of genetic diversity. However, at the strain level, A. pernyi had relatively highest genetic diversity and B. mori had lowest genetic diversity. Analysis of molecular variance (AMOVA) suggested that 60% and 72% of genetic variation resided within strains in A. pernyi and S. cynthia ricini, respectively, whereas only 16% of genetic variation occurred within strains in B. mori. In UPGMA dendrogram, individuals of A. pernyi...

Genetic divergence among elephantgrass cultivars assessed by RAPD markers in composit samples Scientia Agricola
Daher,Rogério Figueiredo; Pereira,Messias Gonzaga; Pereira,Antônio Vander; Amaral Jr.,Antônio Teixeira do.
Elephantgrass (Pennisetum purpureum Schum.) is native to regions of tropical Africa and was introduced in Brazil around 1920 through plantings imported from Cuba. It is currently one of the most widespread forage plants throughout the country. At first, there were two cultivars, Napier and Mercker, with well defined characteristics. New genotypes arose and it is believed that the large number of cultivars existing today in germplasm bank is due to duplicates. DNA markers for cultivar characterization are a very valuable tool, especially in situations where morphological and isoenzymatic markers have already been used as in the case of elephantgrass. Thus RAPD markers were used to estimate the genetic divergence among the Napier group elephantgrass...

Genetic diversity among native varieties and commercial cultivars of Solanum tuberosum ssp. tuberosum L. present in Chile Electron. J. Biotechnol.
Solano,Jaime; Mathias,Monica; Esnault,Florence; Brabant,Philippe.
Background: The object of this work was to determine the genetic and allelic diversity of Solanum species present in Chile, assessing allelic distribution among native varieties and commercial cultivars of Solanum tuberosum ssp. tuberosum L., using microsatellite markers. Results: A high level of allelic richness was found in the potatoes studied. The seven microsatellite markers used presented a total of 64 allelic variants among native varieties and commercial cultivars of Solanum tuberosum ssp. tuberosum. The SSR loci generated an average of 9.16 alleles/locus. The group with the highest PIC was that of native varieties collected in the Chiloe archipelago. The high PIC values found indicate that the native varieties from Chiloe have a low level of...

Morpho-genetic profiling and phylogenetic relationship of guava (Psidium guajava l.) as genetic resources in Pakistan Rev. Bras. Frutic.
Kareem,Abdul; Jaskani,Muhammad Jafar; Mehmood,Asim; Khan,Iqrar Ahmad; Awan,Faisal Saeed; Sajid,Muhammad Wasim.
Abstract Guava (Psidium guajava L.) is an open-pollinated crop having 25-40% dissimilarity index which promotes heterozygosity and adds new cultivars. Morpho-genetic characterization of 37 guava accessions was carried out for genetic variability and structure of guava germplasm located in Punjab province, Pakistan. Principal Component analysis (PCA) was subjected to analyze the morphological diversity and for genetic analysis we applied cluster analysis, using the PyElph software. PCA distributed thirty one traits into six components and first two components accounted 39.5% of total variation. A dendrogram constructed on the basis of morphological traits which showed 34% dissimilarity index among thirty seven guava accessions and divided them into 6...

The clustergram: A graph for visualizing hierarchical and nonhierarchical cluster analyses AgEcon
Schonlau, Matthias.
In hierarchical cluster analysis, dendrograms are used to visualize how clusters are formed. I propose an alternative graph called a “clustergram” to examine how cluster members are assigned to clusters as the number of clusters increases. This graph is useful in exploratory analysis for nonhierarchical clustering algorithms such as k-means and for hierarchical cluster algorithms when the number of observations is large enough to make dendrograms impractical. I present the Stata code and give two examples.
